Cuisiq Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Cuisiq is a cooking and nutrition app from SmartSight AI. It is built to be private by design: your food diary, recipes, custom foods and profile are stored only on your phone. There is no account to create, and we operate no server that receives your personal data.
What we collect
Nothing on our side. We have no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting that identifies you, and no user accounts. Everything you log lives in a database on your device, and we cannot read it.
Camera and photos
Cuisiq uses the camera for three things: photographing a meal to estimate its nutrition, reading a packaged food’s nutrition label, and scanning a barcode. Meal photos and label text are analysed on your device by the app’s built-in AI model and Google’s on-device text recognition. The images are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and Cuisiq does not request access to your photo library.
Microphone and voice
The hands-free cooking assistant (“Ask Chef”) listens only while you have it switched on. Cuisiq does not record or store audio. Speech is turned into text by your device’s own speech-recognition service — usually Google’s. Cuisiq explicitly asks that service to work offline, but not every device supports offline recognition; where it does not, your spoken words are processed by that provider under its privacy policy, not ours. If you would rather nothing left the device, leave the voice assistant off and use the on-screen controls.
Network requests
The app is offline-first. It makes network requests in exactly four situations, none of which carries your identity:
- A one-time AI model download from Hugging Face the first time you set up the on-device assistant. This is a large download — use Wi-Fi.
- Barcode lookups against the public Open Food Facts database, which receives only the barcode number. You can skip this entirely by scanning the label or entering the food by hand.
- Recipe imports, when you open or paste a recipe link. Cuisiq fetches that page from the website you chose, so that site sees a normal request from your device. The recipe is then parsed on your phone.
- Google Drive backup, only if you turn it on — see below.
Google Drive backup
Backup is optional and off until you enable it. When you do, Cuisiq asks for permission to use your Google Drive’s hidden application data folder and writes a single backup file of your own data there. That file sits in your Drive, under your Google account; we have no access to it and no copy of it. Cuisiq requests no other Drive permission and cannot see the rest of your Drive. You can revoke access at any time in your Google Account settings, and delete the backup by turning backup off or clearing the app’s data from your Drive account.
Health-related data
The nutrition and body-goal information you enter is health-related, so we treat it accordingly: it is never sold, never shared, never used for advertising, and never leaves your device except in a backup you explicitly create. Cuisiq does not connect to Health Connect or any other health platform.
Purchases
Cuisiq is a one-time paid app sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we never see your card details. The app checks that it was installed from Google Play, which involves no personal data.
Children
Cuisiq is not designed for or directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them — we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Because everything lives on your device, uninstalling the app removes it. You can also clear the app’s data from Android’s app settings. If you enabled Drive backup, remove the stored app data from your Google Account to delete that copy too. There is no account on our side to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
